Deputy US Department of Agriculture Secretary Richard Rominger and Congressman F. Allen Boyd visited the county in spring 1998, for a "town hall"  meeting for developing programs in the USDA 'Farm Bill.'  Accompanying them was August Schumacher, Jr., Under Secretary, Farm and Foreign Agriculture Service and Kevin Kelley, Florida FAS director.
