Information about Jefferson County
A Quick Guide for Jefferson County Residents
Homeowners, Rural Residents, Small Farmers & Homesteaders
Welcome to life in Jefferson County, the Keystone County where the panhandle meets the peninsula. The county is traditionally rural, but is transitioning to a bedroom community. Development code restrictions make 5 and 10 acre residential parcels typical. We hope this introduction from your Extension staff gives you a starting point for enjoying your ranchette, your small acreage estate, your hobby farm or a small scale market farm.
Each section linked below includes Internet references from EDIS, Florida Extension’s extensive digital library of fact sheets, circulars and brochures. Other links may help you settle into the region, too.
Most of the county is on the wrong side of the digital divide …high speed connection is not available yet. The Extension Office and the County Public Library have public access computers where you can print them. Or call our office at 342-0187 and request that we print them for you.
